The piece
The taj is the rigid piece: cast alloy, plated, set with faceted glass rhinestones — a 12 to 16 cm arc standing 4 to 8 cm high at the centre. Its moment is the white dress, usually the last change of the tasdira, and the machta sets it above the chignon, in front of the veil or behind it. It is not worn with the karakou or the chedda, which carry their own forehead pieces. It arrives in its rigid box, which is what carries it between brides — and at 160 g with the box, this is a mid-height taj rather than a tall crown.
