The piece
The mkahla is the small kohl pot the bride takes in her trousseau and the family gives with the wedding presents: a jhaz object kept for years. This one is turned from solid brass, a round-bellied carafe shape with rings, a spire for a stopper and a mirwad, the stick that lays the kohl. The base unscrews too: that is the double lid, so it fills and cleans from below. Handmade, so each piece varies a little. Sold empty: kohl is not included. Bare brass, neither gold- nor silver-plated.
