The piece
A man's kuka bracelet: small polished rectangular tiles strung side by side on a black cord. It adjusts with a sliding knot finished by two small beads and fits any wrist, with no clasp and no metal part. Each tile keeps its own shade, from honey to red-brown, and the natural veining of kuka, the very hard shell of a palm seed, which darkens with time. It goes with a misbaha of the same kuka for a matching groom's gift, or is given on its own. Not gold, not amber, not stone: kuka, a plant material.
